Ask and You Shall Receive –
I have been teaching yoga in the Charleston area for over 10 years and currently teach 7 classes a week. As I have mentioned before, it has always been my dream that when our youngest went to Kindergarten, I would seek out more yoga classes to teach and begin doing more private yoga/reiki sessions.
However, when the time came, it appeared as if I may have to squash this dream and get a full time job with benefits, and that is a whole other blog not really suited for this website 😉 My heart was telling me one thing, finances telling me another. Funny thing I have discovered recently is that if you ask the universe, the universe usually delivers.
After a serious discussion over my career path this particular night, I began asking for signs. During yoga class one evening, when the students were in savasana, I begged for a sign. “Please let me know if I can do this… if I can do what I love and still help support our family… can I make it enough”.
So the universe sent me Taylor. Not even 10 minutes after my plea for guidance, she was asking if I did any private yoga sessions and would I be interested in a pre-wedding yoga session. I knew in my heart, at that moment, that I COULD do it. That I just had to believe it. This sparked such creative light in me. It ignited this amazing idea of starting my own business, of being able to create my own future.
For months after, we met one on one, sharing breath, movement and energy. Each session was different and catered to what she needed that week. I was able to create sequences and mediations that would help her with the crazy energy that comes with planning a wedding. We worked on strengthening and toning her body, mind and spirit.
This last Saturday was her wedding day. Our session was on the rooftop of her beach house, where we did an hour and a half of Yoga followed by a 30 minute reiki session. The focus was on releasing tension from the body, heart openers, hip openers and breathing and moving in ways that were grounding and centering. Techniques that would allow her to relax, enjoy the moment, and help her focus on what her wedding is really about: a celebration of love with family and friends.
One of my favorite things about teaching is helping people find the magic, the light within them, their true self. For me it’s about a connection to the peace that is already within you.
To be able to work with Taylor one on one for months before the wedding and then to share energy with her on such a special day, reinforces even more my love for what I do. I am thankful to the universe for listening and responding, and I am thankful to Taylor for being the sign and for allowing me to be a part of this very special time in her life.
So when you are in doubt, when you are questioning your path, open yourself up to the universe, ask for guidance. Make space for the answers. Remember that you are loved, taken care of and supported.
