Preparation for Class
-
Private Groups
We know you'll want that extra suitcase space for fun shoes of course! We don’t expect you to bring your own yoga mats to Charleston!
If you are doing your session at the beach, we offer perfectly sized, $5 beach yoga towel rentals.
If your session is at a park or inside, we offer $5 yoga mat rentals.
Open Classes
We do not provide mats/towels for our open classes.
Mats can be tricky on the sand, so we recommend using a super-size beach towel, or both a large towel and your mat for added stability, especially on soft sand.
Tapestries, Mexican blankets, or a sheet can also work. Avoid using a black mat in the summer, as it can get very hot.
-
It really depends on the time of year and what you are comfortable with.
Summer
We recommend light clothing such as shorts, light-colored yoga pants/tops, bathing suit, cover-ups. Whatever you feel comfortable in. Black clothing will be hot.
Cooler Weather
It’s all about the layers. The beach will always be a bit cooler than inland.
Hoodies, beanies, socks are always nice. You never want cold tootsies in savasana.
Pricing and Payments
-
Open Classes
At our heart, we believe that yoga should be accessible to everyone and we understand that financial circumstances can vary.
Many of our students inquire about a recommended donation, and while we don't want to impose a specific amount, if you are able, we kindly suggest a range of $10-$20.
Since there are many variables that come into play for our private classes and other yoga options we offer, please contact us for details and pricing.
-
We love cash but will also take Venmo or Zelle.
Each instructor will have a designated money jar and alternative payment details available.
Weather-Related Concerns
-
Open Classes
Our outdoor sessions are subject to the unpredictability of Mother Nature, and there may be instances where we need to relocate or cancel the class.
Private Groups
We are committed to ensuring your session takes place. In certain areas, we can utilize covered park areas or gazebos. However, most groups find moving the session to their rental space convenient, and we are adept at rearranging furniture if needed.
-
If rainfall occurs during the session, in most cases, we'll continue if you choose to stay.
However, we must discontinue the class at the first sign of lightning for safety reasons.

Yes!
-
No. Staying hydrated is crucial, especially at the beach. Kindly ensure to bring your water supply. During the warmest summer periods, we suggest bringing substantial ice-cold water.
Policies
-
We ask if this is your first time to please sign our waiver form. Feel free to let us know if you have any questions at all!
-
Cell Phones
Please do not talk on your cell phone during class. If you accidentally leave your phone on and it rings during class, please don’t stress. It happens to the best of us.
This is not a rule, but we suggest turning the notifications on your smartwatch off. It doesn’t distract us, but it definitely distracts you.
Dogs
We're totally pup-cited to have your furry friends join our beach yoga classes.
We love it when dogs come to yoga; just please make sure you check Folly Beach rules, as there are times of the year when they are not allowed.
Just a gentle reminder to be mindful of others around you. We know your dog is basically a fluffy love guru, but not everyone might be ready for a surprise fur cuddle.
Feel free to bring them along, but let's try to keep them on your towel or their own designated chill spot.
Miscellaneous
-
-
Absolutely, YES! We wholeheartedly encourage children to join our yoga classes. Starting yoga at an early age, even if it's just for a few minutes at a time, can have a profound impact on a child's life. They might not follow every pose or might drift in and out of the practice, but that's okay.
A preteenage girl catching a few of the positive affirmations about self-love and inner peace can be incredibly beneficial. Prime example - my own experiences with yoga as a child - my mom guiding me through savasana, which planted the seeds for my lifelong yoga journey.
We do, however, ask that our mamas with younger yogis place their towels/mats over to the side vs in the middle. It's all about finding the balance between introducing yoga to the young ones and maintaining a respectful atmosphere for all yogis.
