Yoga Under the Oaks
What began as an idea to help raise money for Charles Towne Landing has become so much more. In the Spring of this year, Lee Blakely (Event Coordinator) and Taylor Langford (Events Specialist) for Charlestown Landing, put their heads together and created the brilliant idea of offering yoga at the Legare Waring House under the big beautiful oak trees.
They then contacted the very talented yoga instructor/wedding coordinator Lori Denicola (Blue Planet Green Events), who happily offered to volunteer her time to teach. Coastal Crust was invited to provide yummy food/drink, and the rest is history. The spring series of Yoga Under The Oaks offered 2 classes both taught by Lori.
The fall series offered 6 yoga sessions with different teachers, and luckily, I was invited to be one of those teachers. So far, these classes have held anywhere from 25 to 92 yogis. Due to the rain on October 22nd, Yoga Under the Oaks became Yoga on the beautiful screened-in porch.
The rain didn’t stop the 60 yogis who came out to celebrate breath and movement, to let go, and to connect with what’s important, releasing what’s not. Everything was perfect; the gentle rain outside, the cool breeze coming in through the screens and the crackle from the fireplace laid out a very relaxing scene.
I am so grateful for having had the opportunity to be a part of this. To help raise money for our community, for our parks and to help ensure they will be around a while longer. If you haven’t made it out yet, don’t worry. There is one more session taught by Kate Gebler on November 5th, be sure to check it out. And be sure to keep a check on my facebook page, I will be sure to post when the Spring Series for Yoga Under the Oaks begins.
