The Ultimate Goal

Busy, busy, busy!  We are all so busy!  Unfortunately for most people that is their world these days.   We go from one To Do List to the next, never feeling like we have accomplished enough.  What do we hope to accomplish?  Are we really looking at the big picture or just living our To Do Lists?   Take a moment to consider… “What is my ultimate goal?”  If I finish all of the laundry today, there will just be more laundry tomorrow.  There will always be dirty dishes and more emails to catch up on.  If we don’t remind ourselves regularly of “Who we are”, and “What we really want” what’s the point?  Are we missing the fun of the journey?

I myself struggle with this on a daily basis.  Starting a new business, making sure my students are inspired and safe on their mats, running a household, raising 2 kids, being a good partner to my husband.  All of these things are a part of my being, a part of who I am, but I have to remember there is more.  And this is when I have to remind myself to ground.  Not just to the earth, but ground within myself, my core being.  In there, it’s quiet.  There aren’t any To Do Lists, or expectations, or responsibilities – it’s just me.  I don’t have to impress me, I just have to listen.  When I am able to do this, it connects me to my purpose, and that ultimately, is to be happy.  And when I remind myself the ultimate goal is to be happy, everything else falls into perspective.  Does that mean that I don’t still have a ton of things to get done?  No.  But it does remind me that it’s not the end of the world if I don’t complete everything on my list.  It reminds me to be happy with what I HAVE accomplished and to enjoy the journey, not just the finished project.  It reminds me to weave positive energy into the things I do daily.

These moments of connection are also what helps me at my busiest.  When my mind has to be task oriented, I know that I have given it the rest it needs.  Do I remember to do this all the time?  Nope, but just like everything in life, I am always practicing.  I am a work in progress.

Remind yourself on a daily basis just how important you are.  You deserve a moment of quiet, a moment to breathe, and a moment to connect to your ultimate goal.  What is your ultimate goal, are you creating space for that in your daily life? If not, why?
